Once a strategic stop along the historic Buncombe Turnpike, it continues to reflect that legacy today—centrally located and connected along one of the region’s busiest commercial corridors.Today, Fletcher is best known for its proximity to the Asheville Regional Airport, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, and WNC Agriculture Center. The latter hosts a plethora of events throughout the year, some of the most well-attended being the NC Mountain State Fair, Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (SAFF), Wee Trade Children’s Consignment, Vintage Market Days, and the WNC Bridal Show + Wedding Expo.

The renowned Sierra Nevada Brewery (
an industry pioneer in the world of craft beer) has its Mills River location in Fletcher. The massive facility is a destination in its own right, featuring a production area you can tour, full-service restaurant (reservations required), expansive outdoor gardens, and two event spaces (an open-air amphitheater and indoor venue, High Gravity).  They’re also prized for their sustainable practices—utilizing over 2.6 megawatts of solar energy, converting wastewater to energy via microturbines, achieving Platinum Zero Waste certification, and maintaining LEED-certified facilities.

Other notable Fletcher attractions include Fiddlehead Farm & Forest, an adventure center offering a climbing gym, kid's climbing cove, bike park, fitness center, and Fern Café, which serves up coffee and locally baked treats from the Hendersonville Co-op. In way of libations, Fletcher is home to Two Trees (Henderson county’s first distillery), Souther Williams Vineyard, Barn Door Ciderworks, Bold Rock Mills River Cidery, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Burning Blush Brewery, and Mills River Brewing Co.
